Speedwrite AI writing guides
Speedwrite is our product. We rank it first and explain why; every other tool is described from its own pricing page and independent reviews.
The short version. An AI humanizer rewrites chatbot text so it reads like a person wrote it. The good ones rewrite whole sentences and keep your meaning. The weak ones swap words for synonyms, pad your text, or promise to "beat every detector", which nobody can guarantee.
For natural rewrites that keep your facts, start with Speedwrite (ours). For a free option, Grammarly's Humanizer is the most honest about what it does. If you want a paraphraser and grammar checker in one subscription, QuillBot is the best value.
Not sure your text needs one? Paste it into our free AI writing checker to see what gives it away.

Answer three questions and we'll point you to the best match on this list. Sometimes that isn't us.
Best for rewrites that still sound like you
Speedwrite rewrites your draft one paragraph at a time. Each press of Predict writes a fresh version with new sentence shapes and rhythm, so you keep the one that sounds most like you and press again if none of them do. It works from the facts you give it instead of padding your text, and it cleans up rough English along the way, which helps if English isn't your first language.
We built it because chatbot writing all sounds the same. Two people who paste the same ChatGPT paragraph get two different results.

Best value if you also want a paraphraser and grammar checker
QuillBot's humanizer sits inside a writing suite that also paraphrases, checks grammar, summarizes and flags AI text, with a browser extension that works in most text boxes. Reviews describe clean, grammatical output that stays fairly close to the original sentence structure. Premium unlocks unlimited humanizing and tone options, and the yearly price is low for everything it includes.

Best free option, and the most upfront about detectors
Grammarly offers a free humanizer on its website and a Humanizer agent inside its editor, with preset voices or a custom voice learned from a sample of your writing. It works in six languages. Grammarly says plainly that the tool isn't meant to get around AI detectors and suggests being open about AI help where it matters, which is refreshing in this category.

Best for many languages
Undetectable AI is the biggest name built around humanizing, with its own AI detector, a browser extension and support for more than 50 languages. Plans are sold by words per month, and yearly billing halves the price. Its marketing leans hard on getting past detectors, and an independent benchmark from August 2026 found its rewrites ran much longer than the input on average, so check the length of what you get back.

Best for picking between several versions
WriteHuman changes sentence length, word choice and rhythm, with a Standard and an Enhanced mode, and higher plans return several versions per request so you can choose. It has a sentence-level AI detector, phone apps and an API for developers. Plans cap the number of requests and the words in each, and its reviews include complaints about refunds and billing after cancelling.

Best for adjustable rewrite strength
Walter Writes lets you choose how hard it rewrites, from a light touch to a heavier pass, and covers more than 80 languages. Its marketing is calmer than most in this category. The prices on its site are for yearly billing, and its refund rules are strict, so use the free trial before you commit.

Best unlimited plan
Phrasly pairs a humanizer with a paraphraser, AI detector, plagiarism checker and document editor. Its one paid plan includes unlimited humanizing, up to 5,000 words at a time, which suits people who rewrite a lot. There's no real free tier, only a cheap three-day trial, and the only price shown is for yearly billing.

Read the output, not the marketing. Paste the same paragraph into two or three free trials. The best result keeps every fact, reads smoothly out loud and is about as long as what you put in. If a tool doubles your word count or turns "engine" into "motor apparatus", move on.
Check how it rewrites. Synonym swappers keep each sentence's shape and change the words inside it, which careful readers notice. Tools that rewrite whole sentences or paragraphs, like Speedwrite, change the structure and rhythm too.
Count the real price. Most headline prices assume a yearly plan. Look at the month-to-month price, the word or request limits per month, and the refund policy before you pay.
Be wary of guarantees. No humanizer can promise that every AI detector will pass your text, because detectors change and disagree with each other. Treat "99% undetectable" claims as marketing.
Sometimes, but detectors aren't reliable to begin with. A Stanford study found seven popular detectors flagged more than half of essays by non-native English writers as AI-written, while they judged essays by US eighth graders correctly. OpenAI withdrew its own AI text classifier in 2023 because it was too inaccurate. Turnitin says its document-level false positive rate is under 1%, and in August 2025 it added a check aimed at text run through humanizers.
So the honest answer is that a humanizer can make text read more naturally, and that matters more than any detector score. If your school or employer doesn't allow AI help, a humanizer doesn't change that. Check the policy, and disclose AI use where it's required.

We started from 19 humanizers that show up in searches and roundups, researched ten of them closely, and kept the seven that are well known, still operating and clear about their prices. For each, we read its own pricing, feature and policy pages, independent benchmarks and reviews, and owner complaints on review sites and forums. We ranked them on how naturally they rewrite and keep meaning, the value of their free and paid plans, and how honest their claims are. We make Speedwrite, so weigh our first place with that in mind; every price and limit above comes from each company's own site, or from several recent independent listings where a site wouldn't load, on October 19, 2026.
Grammarly's free web humanizer is the most generous free option among the big names, and QuillBot lets you humanize 125 words at a time for free. Speedwrite gives new accounts a few free rewrites, enough to compare its output with the others before you pay.
The good ones make chatbot text read more like a person wrote it: varied sentences, fewer stock phrases, no filler. None can promise to pass every AI detector, because detectors disagree with each other and keep changing. Always read the result and fix anything that changed your meaning.
Turnitin added a feature in August 2025 aimed at text that has been run through humanizer tools, for English writing. There's no independent data yet on how accurate it is. If your course doesn't allow AI help, a humanizer won't make it allowed.
It depends on the rules where you're writing. Many businesses are happy for staff to draft with AI and polish the result, while many schools ban undisclosed AI help on graded work. Check your syllabus, handbook or company policy, and disclose AI use where it's required.
A paraphraser rewords text you give it, often one sentence at a time. A humanizer aims specifically at the habits that make AI writing obvious, such as stock phrases, lists of three and uniform sentence lengths. Speedwrite rewrites whole paragraphs, so the structure changes along with the words.
Not for being AI-written. Google's guidance says it rewards helpful content however it's made, and acts against pages mass-produced to game rankings without adding value. Fact-check AI drafts and add what only you know.
